A Burst Water Pipe - Pukla vodovodna cijev
⚡️ How our changing weather caused us quite some problems.
Hello and welcome to this edition of our Blog, from Čardačani, in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, written by an immigrant (me), as I am neither a tourist or a citizen here.
It’s still insanely hot here.
The weather we are experiencing is pretty severe for us. It doesn’t matter which app we use, they all show temperatures that are far too hot for us during the day.
In an effort to create a comfortable environment, we are rising a lot earlier to allow us to do “normal” tasks and wait ‘till the end of the day, say around 1900, to finish off.
The rest of the day to be honest, is hiding inside our house in the cool.
And there’s so much more of this extreme weather to come so it seems.
Our summer weather patterns have been changing dramatically over the past decade or so. I really feel that we no longer have 4 seasons of equal length, rather a weak chilly Winter, a very short Spring and Autumn (both mild) and an extremely ROASTING Summer. It’s nearly 37C as I write this, and we are at the 30th June.
July, August and September are yet to arrive!
To be honest, Tamara and I do suffer with heat exhaustion. It is what it is, but at least we have somewhere to retreat to that is cool, and where we can be comfortable.
Having said all of the above, we do have occasional quick “cold snaps” (maybe a rocket fast dip to say 20C?), and when that happens, strong winds and storms rapidly form with downpours of near monsoon proportions.
That is actually what we experienced this past two weeks. The thunderclaps were so strong that they set off car motion alarms, and for us, may have caused our water main to fracture.
The following vlog tells that story.
If you could watch the video to the end and maybe share it (or this post), on your social networks, that would really help to get our content seen by more people Thanks in advance 👍.

Why Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦 might be a place to relocate to?
I have had quite a few queries recently from people thinking of moving to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Could this be the first steps for Bosnia and Herzegovina to become the next “Portugal” for expats to settle in?
Learn more about why expats are resettling in Portugal.
The queries I have received have mainly been about residency, setting up a business and purchasing property.
I am certainly no expert, but try to offer any help I can based on my personal experience and situation. Which, with full disclosure, is not much.
But should you be wondering about how the cost of living here, compares to where you are as you are reading this, then this link might be of interest to check out.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is far from a paradise, but with today’s world being what it is, this beautiful heart shaped country could be an alternative, when looking to improve quality of life.
