Je li to plavo nebo? Are those Blue Skies?
Sun, Sun, Sun, even with just a little warmth does something for the soul or that’s what we experience, and after this past cold stretch, it’s so welcome.
Welcome to this weeks newsletter from Tamara and Me here in Čardačani.
As you can see, we’ve improved the style of the newsletter to being a little more than words on a white background (a request from a reader).
The title this week, reflects, we hope, the ever increasing Spring like days. Sun, Sun, Sun, even with just a little warmth does something for the soul or that’s what we experience, and after this past cold stretch, it’s so welcome.
1. Tamara has dived into learning German and has been watching an AMAZING YouTube channel called “Easy German”.
If you’re into German you can check it out HERE
2. Chatting with Arch Grieve, a mediator who works and lives in Dayton, Ohio, but has a project involving young people and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
3. Enjoying homemade Čufte.
4. More Long Hot Showers.
In the previous newsletter we mentioned that Tamara’s uncle wasn’t feeling too bright and had been admitted to hospital with COVID symptoms.
We received some get well messages and wishes, and maybe those contributed to the lessening of the problem for him. Thank you so much for those.
He’s not out of the woods yet, but in a much much better place than last week :)
UPDATE!
Today Tamara's father took advantage of vaccination offered in Banja Luka.
303 citizens over the age of 65 vaccinated in 4 hours.
Extremely professionally organised.
Bosnia and Herzegovina still hasn’t got a grip on vaccinations yet though, and to be honest, it’s starting to get embarrassing.
I start to wonder how many vaccinations could be bought for the price of a politicians car and seriously “subsidised” lifestyle.
Don’t get me started.
An interesting story popped up in my feeds the other week.
In an ever changing world, Digital Nomads are finding new places to remotely work from.
Traditionally, at least that the impression I have formed, people looked for exotic places to base from. Thailand and the Philippines spring to mind.
As COVID hit our lives, and maybe just before, new locations were being looked at. Portugal and Spain for example.
Then at the end of last year and the start of 2021, Croatia popped up on the radar.
Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), is developing its internet infrastructure, and the roll out of optical cabling is impressive. Mobile and speeds are comparable if not faster than most EU countries, for example.
For Digital Nomads that’s important, and Bosnia and Herzegovina has that.
The cost of living is extremely attractive in BiH.
Although (at the moment) a 90 day tourist visa is available, it does mean that for 90 days out of any 180 days, there’s no paperwork or registration required. There could be a longer visa available in the future.
Compared to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina offers just as many places to see and experience to have, but at a fraction of the costs.
Language by the way is not too much of an obstacle either in BiH.
If you are looking to “Nomad” it, then seriously consider Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We’ll be occassionaly featuring people who have, like David, decided to make Bosnia and Herzegovina their home.
This is Ivy and her Husband Slaven. Living a self sustainable and eco friendly lifestyle.
A super interesting channel, which we highly recommend following and subscribing to.
Our next Podcast is about Travelling Differently.
David caught up with Hubert Nijmeijer, the CEO of Dutch online company “HiHi Guide” to get the lowdown on how things might look post COVID.
Travelling (previously referred to as Tourism), has an impact on the Bosnian Economy.
Please give it a listen?
We have started to post our podcasts here next to the newsletter. You can play them straight from the page, no need for any other tech, app, or platform.
Driving through Banja Luka’s Main Street in the sunshine. This city is so green, compared to most in the region.
Yes, the tulips are out again.
That's our update from our village here in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina for this week.
We hope you like our new way of creating our weekly newsletter.
We hope you'll continue to follow our adventures, and to engage with questions and comments.
We are always so excited when we receive them, AND, we reply to every single one.
PLEASE, do stay safe wherever you are.
Kind funny I get this and remote working is one of the articles. I’ve teamed up with Maj JM on a “thing” to do stuff so I’ll keep your area in mind. I’d love to visit.
