Hello again from Čardačani.

If I haven’t already wished you a Happy New Year for 2024, then “Happy New Year”.

Tamara and I wish you all the best of health and happiness, and everything that you wish for yourself.

Today is Serbian Orthodox Christmas. This post has been scheduled a little in advance as Tamara and I will be celebrating with her parents in Banja Luka.

In next weeks post I’ll tell you all about it.

I’m definitely not a New Year’s resolution person, and I’m not even sure about “New Year New Start”, but I’ve decided to change the style of how I tell my stories about my life here in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Looking back at my archive it all seems sketchy, disjointed, and not saying what I wanted to say. I think, in fact I now realise, that I really didn’t understand how to use this platform.

So, after much thought, I’ve changed the name of this substack to reflect more, the content I’ll be posting.

I will be posting “Coffee and Rakija”, weekly on a Sunday morning, and posts from now onwards, will incorporate links to my podcast, “An Englishman in the Balkans” as well as any embedded videos.
