We've been eating out a lot this past week.
Hello and welcome to this edition of our Blog, this week from Makarska on the Croatian 🇭🇷 coast, written by an immigrant (me), as I am neither a tourist or a citizen here in the Western Balkans.

The Story
This week's post comes to you not from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it's neighbour, Croatia.
Tamara and I have been taking a short break away. Indeed we still have a day and a half to go, (as we write this),so this is being written on the Croatian coast at Makarska in Dalmatia.
Actually I am looking across at the island of Brać. Croatia has a large number of islands if it's coast of varying sizes.
I am often asked how many there are.
The definitive answer is over 1,000 of various shapes and sizes. Each one is unique.
Dalmatia, which is on the southern part of the coastline, evokes the famous Disney film, "A Hundred and one Dalmatians"
The beaches here are still packed with visitors "soaking up the rays", even at the tail end of August. I am not one of those. The heat and I simply do not get along.
Tamara says that a huge number of visitors here are from Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that this area has become a "Bosanski Lonac".
Every day from Dawn to Dusk, there are people walking up and down the beach, peddling fruit, donuts and even olive oil. A boat just pulled up selling fresh fruit!
There are also so many micro companies offering para-sailing experiences as well. A booming seasonal industry I have to say, but a bit pricey.
Most clients it seems are Ukrainians, Czechs, Poles, Austrians, Germans and Scandinavians.
I have been overdosing on "Nightmares on Wax" as my music accompaniment of choice while on da beach. It really does change the vibe, having a musical background to the reality in front of you.
The weather has been kind to us with high temperatures and clear blue skies (great for those sun worshippers and ardent swimmers). We did get one short spell where the low hanging mist settling on top of the Dinaric Alps, suddenly changed into a most impressive storm.
The sunsets here have been relaxing to experience as well.
The plan whilst here was to just chill and enjoy food and drink. Which we have done. Though it’s fair to say that Croatia is significantly more expensive than Bosnia and Herzegovina.
But that’s what happens on holidays.

The Video
We deliberately took a break during our time at the coast, from the constant posting on social media that we have done before. To be honest it’s not good to be creating every second of the day. This break has brought that home.
Yes, there are a few short videos in this post, and there will be 2 other longer videos to watch in the future. Something to look forward to 😀
Gone are the days of staying up late into the night to get a video live within a few hours. We are going to stave for quality over quantity.
