Fresh Horizons?
Unveiling Our Revamped Newsletter Design
📰 The Update 📰
A few changes to announce.
I’ve been here on Substack since April 14th 2021.
I enjoy using the platform, and have in that time been constantly trying to find “my style”. But to be honest, what is anyone’s “style”?
I am not a writer in the traditional sense. I just want to tell stories about my everyday life (which I think might be boring), and to try and bring a more positive view about my adopted home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I have also struggled a bit about whether Substack is the best pace to host a blog. I mean its a newsletter platform, right?
Maybe it can be both.
The Plan.
From now on I’ll still be posting Blog Posts, Podcast and Vlogs onto Coffee and Rakija, BUT NOT, publishing them to my email list. You.
Rather I’ll wait until Wednesdays, when I’ll publish a newsletter, about what’s been happening here, but also containing links to Blog Posts etc I think you’ll find interesting. There will also be images as well, that for me, replaces any need for Instagram.
Talking of Instagram, I’ll be using that only to inform my followers there, of what’s been posted here on Substack. No more stories etc. Creating those really does take up too much time for precious little (for me at least) reward.
Podcasts will still be appearing in your inboxes on Sundays.
Before I forget, Coffee and Rakija is free to subscribe to. There is no paywall.
Do you like this Layout/Format for the Newsletter?
By the way, is getting two emails a week from me, too much?

What are Vikendica.
Let me explain a little about the concept of the Vikendica."Vikendica" or weekend houses, are small, usually rural properties that are an integral part of this country’s cultural landscape and are used for a wide range of purposes. As far as I can make out, the concept of Vikendica, emerged in the post-World War II era, when many urban Bosnians sought refuge in the countryside to escape the pressures of city life.
📈 The Survey 📊
I have a short survey designed to improve my Substack. It would be super helpful if you could find under 5 minutes to complete it. Thanks so much in advance.
🇧🇦 Experiencing Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦
We are hosting guests from Germany at the moment, who will be staying 6 nights with us. They’ll be exploring Banja Luka, Jajce and Travnik.
Hospitality in this region is paramount. So on arrival day we sat outside in the garden and introduced them to Leskovački Rostilj. Definitely a meal that induced a food coma.
There was also a 4.5 litre bottle of homemade Rakija on the table. ⬇️

And Finally
Please also do share this post it really helps me to grow awareness for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Thank you for being a part of my community.
