Loved the videos this week, the scenery is beyond stunning, wishing I could be there. Yes its dreadful what has happened in Afghanistan. One of the most important things is to look back in History, especialy British when it was an empire. Defeat in 1842 by the Afghans, 1878 eventual take over but in conjuction with a local group/ tribe appointmet of Afghan ruler and a special relationship of joint running the country, Then in 1919 actual independance when Britain pulled out, after again a troublesome time. It seems no one bothers to read History. Take care all the very best to you and Tamara

every rose has a thorn, much unfortunate for Afghanistan and the photo looks much confusing in trying to understand the temperature at the time, from right to left, short sleeve summer clothing and sandals, progresses gradually to heavier and finally autumn/winter full on clothing with a jacket ,hat and even a scarf along with winter shoes, interesting and confusing :)

Hi Will, yes, the pic it is somewhat confusing. The Afghans usually wear traditional clothing of sandals, long trousers and that long shirt like top. Ladies will always have at minimum a hijab, regardless of temperature. Men wear will also wear western clothes at times and so there's a "mish mash". The winter in Kabul is deep deep snow so even then you might still see open footwear. the scarf or "shemag" (scarf as we might view it) is worn as protection from the heat. So if it really roasts up its over the head straight away. I still have a selection although mainly used as a fashion accessory :)

the weather at the time was maybe April/May?

and so shemag might be useful for Bosnian summers soon to protect from the sun and heat, never had i known it snows in Afghanistan

A shemag would be very useful indeed. Kabul is 1,750 metres in altitude. making it one of the highest capitals in the world :(

Loving rose wine (a dry one though) too which I never used to like - maybe it’s an age thing 🤔

Umm that's something to consider.
