Hidden Stone Balls Near Banja Luka
Exploring Slatina
Today we’re just a few kilometres from Banja Luka, near the spa village of Slatina, exploring something a little unusual, the so-called “stone balls” hidden just a few hundred metres off the main road.
The route is clearly marked with hiking signs, the walk is gentle, and yes… I’m still getting over the flu.
There may be some perspiring. In this video:

• Why this is an easy outing for retirees
• How accessible it really is from Banja Luka.
One of the things I enjoy most about retirement in Bosnia and Herzegovina is that you don’t have to travel far to find something interesting.
Sometimes it’s just down the road. Simple. Local. Real.
If you’re curious about slower living, gentle exploration, and what life after 70 looks like in rural Bosnia, you’re in the right place.
Let me know in the comments, would you visit somewhere like this?

Bosnia is full of surprises; pyramids, ancient villages, stecci, and the stone balls. I visited the stone ball site in Zavidovici when I was there in 2018. The hillside is full of the amazing spherical shaped balls. Some have been broken open as people were searching for hidden treasures, but there are still many intact. Thanks for sharing your walk.
