Muddy Walks, Drones, Dogs & the Joy of Slowing Down
A Walk and Talk Video
Hello, and welcome back. Hope your life is going fine. Mine definitely is. Spoiler alert, in a few days time, I’m going to be 73. Who would have thought, all those years ago that I would be living the life that I do. Anyway, this is another update walk.
It seems that you like these walk and talk videos more than me sat in my little studio back home. So what’s been happening since the last video?
Thank you very much indeed, first of all, to everyone that sends comments in, I appreciate that and I reply to all the comments as you know. So if you want to ask me any questions feel free to do so in the comment section.
I also want to say thank you to Dejan Savić who got in contact with me from Slovenia and he said “I found your podcast”, and he sent me a link, an amazing link to an ebook that I can read on my Kindle. Whoops. And it’s about an Englishman that wrote a book about his journeyed through this wonderful country back in 1837.
At that time, where I am now, there was an insurgency against the Ottomans, the Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans had occupied this area, goodness knows, 200 years or whatever it was before, maybe more, and the local population were having an insurgency, the local population being the people who I live with now.
So later on today I’m going to download that and read it. It’s free. He gave me the free download link.
So if you want to compare notes about David in 2026, and Sir Arthur Evans back in 1875, then please do. Should be interesting.
As I record this video I’ve got hiking boots on, right? So at least I can take them off before I go in the house when I get home.
And going into houses here, by the way, you take your shoes off. Not like in England, where you just like brush the soles of your shoes on a mat and walk in. Here you actually physically take them off. It’s a done thing. I like it.
Bit of a pain sometimes, but I like it.
So the news with the dogs, the dogs are still causing us aggravation, this bitch that is hanging around our house is really on heat now. All the male dogs are going crazy. Božo (our new “stray”) we don’t know. He’s completely lost it. But we have some solutions and if any of those solutions work, I’ll let you know on the next video or the one after that.
Tamara has found a new word which her friends in Zenica used, “Jarene” which is an old Turkish word for mate or buddy. She’s now decided to keep calling me Jarani!.
So what have you been getting up to? Especially if you’re over the age of 60. How do you fill your time? What adventures have you been on?
Tamara and I are already planning our adventures for the year. We’re going to do lots more hikes. My sister, who has moved back to the UK now wants to walk the Camino Santiago. I’ll see about that. But that certainly would be an adventure.
Another Quick Question for you:
What would you like to see more of?
I know a lot of you have said, can we have cooking videos? But to be honest, Tamara’s not keen on making cooking videos or being much on camera anymore.
Thank you very much indeed for reading/watching. It really, really does mean a lot. I say that every time, but it is true.
If you want to see my Behind The Scenes BTS videos, images and audio that I post almost daily, and that is not posted here or on YouTube, then check out my Patreon Channel, it’s only £2 a month. Just scan this QR code.
Thank You
Thank you for watching these little slices of my life. If you’d don’t mind here are 3 questions I have for you.
What would make you hit “play” on a video post instead of just reading?
What makes a video episode feel personal or meaningful to you?
Would you like me to add audio versions of my video posts so you can choose how to enjoy them?
I’ll give a complimentary subscription to Coffee and Rakija for life for taking the time to answer.
