Snow, Mud & Birkenstocks at 70
Daily Life in Rural Bosnia
Today was one of those days that started quietly and ender with muddy shoes, wet socks, and a small story worth sharing.
The snow returned here in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina after days of relentless rain, and the ground around the village is completely waterlogged.
Yesterday I had to walk the property boundary to retrieve two snow shovels I’d used to block gaps in the fence, which was an emergency solution thanks to wandering packs of dogs chasing bitches “on heat”, village life realities for us.
I probably shouldn’t have been wearing Birkenstocks.
I definitely shouldn’t have slipped over.
But I did and luckily didn’t break anything.

Your Spring will be glorious. Here in Colorado US it is the driest winter since 1930, a totally different extreme. Thanks for sharing your excerpts from your daily life in beautiful Bosnia.
