Monday.
Zagreb.
Woke up to a sunny morning after a comfortable night, which is always a bonus, don't you think?
Breakfast? Lovely.
The shuttle bus to the airport was just as experienced pre pandemic. To be honest, staring out of the window, Zagreb hadn't changed all that much.
Checking in for the flight at the airport was a breeze and nothing like I had anticipated. Apart from people wearing masks, nothing seemed to have changed (of course it has), but it felt good to "be back".
The Flight.
British Airways has never been my favourite airline, but, the 2+ hours passed smoothly and the snack was a bonus.
Heathrow.
Welcome to the world of tens of thousands of people all rushing around like ants over spilled honey in the kitchen.
Passport control was no bother. Electronic gates, no health documentation required. The UK is now a "non mask' country. But there are still a noticeable amount of people wearing them.
Another shuttle bus, this time to Reading some 21 miles or 33km away.
Journey time 1 hour.
I'll be met by my daughter on arrival. She gets me to use live location tracking on my mobile, so she can follow my progress.
Woodcote, South Oxfordshire.
So here I am. Unpacked, settling in and starting to catch up on the past 30 or so months.
Roast chicken for dinner, with Yorkshire pudding.
My granddaughters have grown so much.
My other daughter and her family are arriving from New Jersey on Friday.
Time is going to fly.
