The Sunday Sip
A Weekly Brew from Coffee and Rakija
I’m David. The Sunday Sip, is a weekly newsletter about my life and experiences in a rural village in North-West Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’ll be giving you a unique look, through the eyes of an immigrant (me), of this much misunderstood country. My goal is to replace the many negative perceptions of both the country and its people, that you’ll be served by international media outlets. Thank you so much for dropping by.
The Update.
Hello,
I have decided to resurrect the “Sip”, which will give you a brief update from my world and link to some of the things I have documented away from Substack.
It’s been one of those weeks where, to be honest, nothing really dramatic happened, and yet quite a lot did.
The weather here has stayed stubbornly cold, the village has kept its winter hush, and most days have followed a familiar rhythm: walking (a bit), recording (still experimenting with a new camera) and thinking (about becoming a radio “Ham”),
So heres a “gentle” round-up of the past seven days.
🎙 The Podcast:
If Time Wasn’t Unlimited, What Would You Do Differently
Postcards from Bosnia is an audio journey into the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seen through the eyes of an Englishman who has made this place his home.
🎥 YouTube:
A quiet, chat-to-camera video from outside in the garden.
Not really advice, more about noticing what life after 70 actually looks like day to day.
One thing worth your time
If you only dip into one thing this week, I’d suggest the podcast episode.
Audio remains the place where I feel most myself. Where I can pause, wander slightly, and let thoughts arrive rather than force them into shape. This episode isn’t trying to resolve anything. It’s more a companionable walk alongside a few ideas that have been with me for a while now.
Behind the scenes (for the curious)
Over on Patreon this week, I shared a behind-the-scenes moment, from my visit to my neighbours “Slava”.
A post thats less polished, but more observational. It’s the sort of content that doesn’t belong on YouTube or here on Substack.
Some Patreon posts are for members only.
Thank You for Being Here
If you’ve read this far, thank you. Your support means the world to me, whether it’s a comment, a subscription, or just taking the time to read what I share.
It’s not about chasing numbers anymore; it’s about connecting with people who get it, who understand the joys and challenges of this phase of life, that I find myself in (over 70).
Until next week.
Videmo se opet (I’ll see you again soon).
David.
