After 30+ months I visit England again
Hello and welcome to this edition of our newsletter / Blog Post, from Čardačani, in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, written by an immigrant (me), as I am neither a tourist or a citizen here.
This week's post comes from the UK. Southern Central England to be precise.
OK. Woodcote in South Oxfordshire.
It's been some 30 months since I last travelled back to the UK. COVID seriously impacted all travel possibilities.
I am here visiting my 2 daughters and their families.
One daughter arrives shortly from New Jersey so a massive catch up and hugs session.
Love it.
I have also visited my 90+ year old mother in Norfolk.
Although understandably frail and tiny now, she's still sharp as a razor.
Being back in my country of birth is weird.
Totally.
As I said recently to my sister who has recently moved from Berlin to Haarlem in the Netherlands, I don't feel the vibe here anymore.
She said she felt the same.
My home is in South West Europe.
With all the negativity surrounding social media, the one bright light is it still offers great communication opportunities to people around the world, who are separated by huge distances.
I have still to shop for those "luxury" items like mint jelly, Marmite etc.
"You can take the man out of Britain, but you can't take Britain out of the man".
I Bought a Toy.

Hi was just curious you said you weren't feeling the vibe back in the UK. what did you mean? How has it changed? If Bosnia is your home now, what is it about Bosnia that makes it feel that way?
